Information we collect

Account and session information

We use your Google account identity to authenticate you. We store your account identifier, session names, environment, site URL, typed observation text, transcripts, structured report data, processing status, and evidence metadata.

Observation evidence

Typed observation text and images you explicitly attach are sent for AI processing when you choose Send observation. Explicitly attached images include pasted and uploaded images, which may come from outside the active page. Yap n Snap does not claim that pasted or uploaded images were captured from the active URL.

Yap n Snap records microphone audio only after you choose Add recording. Capturing the viewport or full page occurs only when you choose that action. Full-page capture scrolls the page while capturing it. Page context can include the page title, sanitized active URL, viewport dimensions, browser name and version, platform name and version, device-pixel ratio, preferred locale, IANA time zone, and raw user-agent string. Browser environment metadata is collected only after you start a capture by opening an observation draft or explicitly add page evidence; it is not collected while you merely browse.

When you choose Select page element, Yap n Snap captures a screenshot plus a selected, bounded, and sanitized portion of HTML structure and computed layout styles for AI processing. It does not collect whole-page source, scripts, form values, cookies, local or session storage, or network traffic.

How we use and process information

We use this information to:

• authenticate your account and keep your sessions private;
• transcribe optional microphone audio;
• turn your written observation, transcript, page context, and attached evidence into a QA report;
• show, edit, rename, and review your sessions and observations; and
• secure, operate, diagnose, and improve the service.

Audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription. Typed observation text, transcript text, page context, browser environment metadata inside page context, explicitly attached images, and selected element context are sent to OpenAI for structured QA analysis. Yap n Snap uses Amazon Web Services to authenticate users, run the application, and store private session and evidence data.

Storage and retention

Raw microphone audio is deleted after successful transcription and after a durable transcript is available. Pending uploads expire after 24 hours. Typed observation text, explicitly attached images, selected element context, transcripts, and structured session data are retained so you can review your work. Browser environment metadata is retained with the observation and page-associated screenshots under the same observation lifecycle. You can request deletion by contacting us.

Sharing and advertising

We share data with service providers only as needed to deliver the functions described in this policy, protect the service, comply with law, or respond to a valid legal request. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.

Your choices

An observation draft starts without recording audio or capturing an image. Microphone recording starts only after you choose Add recording. Selected-element capture runs only when you choose Select page element, select a target, set its context boundary, and attach it. You can stop a recording, decline additional evidence, revoke microphone access in Chrome, disconnect your Google session, and request access to or deletion of stored information by contacting us.

Security

We use access controls, encrypted network connections, and private cloud storage intended to protect your information. No service can guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Yap n Snap changes. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
